Brageot Pulls Out all the Stops in Abu Dhabi Qualifying

In Qualifying for the 11th season opener of the Red Bull Air Race in Abu Dhabi, UAE on Friday, Mika Brageot of France served up a head turning 53.416 to come a close 4th behind the reining World Champion Yoshi Muroya in 3rd.

Brageot; “It’s a good day; it’s the best time we’ve posted since the beginning of the week and fourth was exactly where we wanted to be. I felt really well in the aircraft, everything is positive and we’re looking forward to tomorrow. We haven’t worked out the exact tactic for tomorrow, but we know where we can get faster, but as you know you have to put everything together, but we have to keep a cool head.”

Matthias Dolderer of Germany appeared to be back in the form that won him the 2016 World Championship, topping his nearest competitor, Michael Goulian of the United States, by more than a half second.

The racetrack over the Abu Dhabi Corniche forces even the favorites into penalties. The qualifying today produced an impressive Round of 14 ‘head to head’ with some big name clashes set to cause havoc. Anything can happen when Race Day takes off on Saturday, but one thing is for sure, it will not be one to miss!
